shades of white / whisper of gold

On the 30th of May 2024, dosa designer Christina Kim unveiled her first exhibition in Greece: Shades of White / Whisper of Gold. This is part of a month-long takeover of Mouki Mou Athens. An exclusive collection of dosa garments, jewellery pieces by Pippa Small, lightweight pashminas from Yaser Shaw and sandals from Ancient Greek Sandals has all been created for this collaboration.

"For me, white and gold mean Greece,” explains Kim. “It’s the Greek light, and all those whitewashed villages – like a collage of interlocking structures and elements, in varying shades of white.”

White is dosa’s base colour, but it comes in a whole spectrum of hues: tint, rice, pebble, and yi (named after the prized white porcelain of Korea’s Yi dynasty). The hints of gold come from shimmering zari cloth spun in Kolkata, gossamer shawls appliquéd with tidki (constellations of dots made from the tiniest of fabric scraps), metallic badla threads from Gujarat, and a wavy lace trim from Valencía that Kim had saved for 25 years, until the right moment presented itself.
